World Mental Health Day & Substance Use Disorder Awareness

The World Health Organization (WHO) is observing World Mental Health Day on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018. The day is used to bring attention to mental health concerns and disorders that affect millions of Americans each day. There is also an intentional focus on how mental illnesses tend to begin as early as 14 years of age, and so even the young need support and outlets.

Acceptance Recovery Center in Scottsdale is using World Mental Health Day to raise awareness about substance use disorder. The overall concept of substance use disorder is not greatly understood by most people, as attention is usually brought only to addiction. It is Acceptance Recovery Center’s goal to use World Mental Health Day and every other day to let more people know about substance use disorder and the ways to treat it.

Our drug and alcohol rehabilitation center incorporate the 12-step philosophy into our customizable treatments and therapy programs. We understand that each person with substance use disorder is going up against a different opponent than the next due to the circumstances that led to and continue their hazardous dependency on substances. By providing a safe space staffed with compassionate recovery professionals, we have helped so many people from all around Arizona and beyond move towards a brighter, better future.
